What is a dome roof?
Tokyo Dome is Japan's first all-weather multi-purpose stadium, located in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo.
Many people may be familiar with it as it is used for sports games and concerts.
The "dome roof" in the title refers to the roof of the Tokyo Dome. In fact, our fluoroplastic products are heavily involved in the Tokyo Dome!
When will Tokyo Dome be completed?
Do you know when Tokyo Dome was built?
The answer is 1988.
It's amazing that it's been over 30 years. Incidentally, it is the only domed stadium in Japan that opened in the Showa era. That distinctive roof has supported the Tokyo Dome for over 30 years.
In fact, the roof of the Tokyo Dome is made of a membrane, with a double structure consisting of an outer and inner layer, and fluoroplastic 's fluororesin membrane material is attached to the inner layer.
The relationship between Tokyo Dome and fluoroplastic
What image comes to your mind when you hear fluoroplastic (TeflonTM)?
When people think of it, they probably imagine it as a coating for things like frying pans.
However, fluoroplastic is a highly functional plastic that can be processed into a variety of products, such as by coating it onto glass fiber to make a cloth-like material, or by combining it with an adhesive to make an adhesive tape.
Among the various fluoroplastic processed products, our company is the only one in Japan that manufactures fluoroplastic architectural membrane materials.
This "fluoroplastic architectural membrane material" is a fluoroplastic product specialized for roofing and ceiling materials, and has been adopted in a variety of buildings both in Japan and overseas, including the Tokyo Dome, Nagoya Dome, Kashima Soccer Stadium, Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand, and train stations.
