Our company handles a large number of fluoroplastic products, but among them, there is one product in particular that has been used by many customers for many years.

These are fluoroplastic adhesive tapes called "AGF-100 FR" and "ASF-110 FR".
However, we often hear people say, "It's hard to understand the differences between the products. I don't know which one to use."

This time, we will introduce the features, differences, and applications of these two products to help you select the product you want.

What is the difference between AGF-100 FR and ASF-110 FR?

The main difference between AGF-100 FR and ASF-110 FR is the composition of the base material.
The base material of AGF-100 FR is glass cloth impregnated with fluoroplastic, and the base material of ASF-110 FR is a fluoroplastic film.
In terms of appearance, the AGF-100 FR has a surface that is "small bumps" like a cloth tape, while the ASF-110 FR has a "smooth surface" like a vinyl tape.
Furthermore, both products use a heat resistance resistant silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive to take advantage of heat resistance of fluoroplastic.
Now, let us explain how the differences in base materials actually work.

Features of AGF-100 FR

As mentioned above, AGF-100 FR uses glass cloth impregnated with fluoroplastic as the base material.
A major feature of this material is that it has mechanical strength of glass cloth in addition to the characteristics of fluoroplastic.
Glass cloth is made by weaving extremely fine glass filament threads called glass fibers, and has excellent durability, heat resistance, and dimensional stability.
AGF-100 FR is made by applying a silicone adhesive to a base material made of fluoroplastic impregnated with fluororesin.

dimensional stability

Compared to ASF-110FR, the base material is glass cloth, so dimensional changes are less likely to occur even when used in high temperature environments.

Insulation

Both fluoroplastic and glass cloth have Insulation.

non-stick characteristics, releasing ability, lowest friction

In addition to non-stick characteristics and releasing ability of fluoroplastic, the uneven surface of the glass cloth also improves lowest friction.

chemical resistance

fluoroplastic have the characteristic of being resistant to all chemicals.

heat resistance

Can be used up to a maximum temperature of 200°C.

Features of ASF-110 FR

On the other hand, ASF-110 FR uses a pure fluoroplastic film as the base material, so its main feature is that it retains the properties of fluoroplastic as is.

flexibility

Compared to AGF-100 FR, it has the softness characteristic of fluoroplastic and has excellent conformability.

Insulation

fluoroplastic has the highest level of Insulation among all plastics.

non-stick characteristics, releasing ability, lowest friction

fluoroplastic has the characteristic that all substances do not stick easily to it.

chemical resistance

fluoroplastic have the characteristic of being resistant to all chemicals.

heat resistance

It can be used at a maximum temperature of 200°C.

How can it be used?

Now, let us introduce the uses of each product, taking into account the above characteristics.

Applications of AGF-100 FR

The typical usage of AGF-100FR is as follows.
Because of its excellent base material strength, heat resistance and releasing ability, it is often used to protect the heaters in heat sealing machines.
It is also used in insulating tapes, taking advantage of its Insulation properties.

- Heater protection and mold release for heat sealing machines
・Insulating tape for electric wires, etc.
・Release tape for metal molding

Applications of ASF-110 FR

The typical usage of ASF-110FR is as follows.
It is used when it is necessary to provide releasing ability, lowest friction, and chemical resistance according to the shape of the adherend, and for cable bundling applications that require both lowest friction and Insulation.

- Friction surface lining for chutes and hoppers
・Cable ties and insulating spacers
- Masking chemicals in painting and plating processes

summary

Do you understand the difference between the AGF-100FR and the ASF-110FR?
The AGF-100FR is an adhesive tape with fluoroplastic-impregnated glass cloth substrate, while the ASF-110FR is an adhesive tape with fluoroplastic substrate.
Due to the difference in base material, AGF-100FR is often used in applications that require mechanical strength, while ASF-110FR is often used in applications that require conformability and Insulation.

With this product as our core, we develop, manufacture and sell products with added value, such as products with improved heat resistance and tensile strength.
